Backchanneling in the classroom

Backchannel Resources

We'll use this page to list and describe some of the available backchannel tools that can be used. The big issues for choosing a tool is allowing for easy access, archiving the chat, and keeping "junk posters" out.

Chatzy -
Cover it Live - live blogging that is embeddable for archiving purposes, but has limitations to number of participants
Twitter - less organized, harder to archive, conversation gets lost with other Twitter "noise"
Skype - non-web based so need to download/install an application. Plus, you need an account.
Google Docs Chat - works great when used in conjunction with Google presentation because a chat participant can follow along with slides
Ustream chat - if presentation is broadcast, can use chat room
